Recipes

Build and manage your household's dinner recipe library in Dinnerbord.

Recipes are the building blocks of your week plan. Every dinner you suggest comes from your recipe library.

Adding a recipe

  1. Go to Recipes in the sidebar.
  2. Click New recipe.
  3. Enter a name and choose a protein. These are the only required fields.
  4. Optionally add tags, effort, ingredients and notes.
  5. Click Create recipe.

Recipe details

  • Protein: every recipe has exactly one (Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish & Seafood, Eggs, Beans & Legumes, Vegetarian or Other). It's used to warn you about the same protein on back-to-back days.
  • Tags: free-form labels such as "kids' favourite" or "slow cooker". You can filter your library by them.
  • Effort: Quick, Normal or Weekend project. Ideas favour quick dinners on weekdays and projects at the weekend.
  • Makes leftovers: for big batches like chili or lasagna. When this dinner locks, the next day is locked as leftovers, as long as nobody has suggested anything for it yet.
  • Notes: preparation notes or the full method.

Ingredients

Add each ingredient with an optional quantity and unit (e.g. "2 cups flour"). Dinnerbord uses these when building your grocery list.

Editing a recipe

Click a recipe's name to view it, or use the row menu and choose Edit. Make your changes and click Save changes.

Deleting a recipe

Use the row menu and choose Delete. Open suggestions for that recipe are removed. Days where it was already locked stay in the plan, but no longer link to a recipe.

Browsing your library

Use the Protein and Tags filters at the top of the Recipes page to narrow the list. Your household's full library is visible to all members.
